gave breakfast to one of our favourite little kittens , we carry a bag of cat biscuits around in the bike haha .
wanted to try somewhere totally new today so headed up to beach street in mandrem . on the way to mandrem we visited the turtle nesting sites , been here about 7 times so far to keep checking if there where any signs of hatching . it was hard enuogh just trying to locate the nests on mile upon mile of golden beach . they are over due but its practically daily visits now to get updates on the progress . no pain no gain .
at beach street we paid to use the pool and facilities during the day [theres a minimum spend etc] .
WIDESCREEN PANORAMIC SHOT
the pool is a highlight for sure
did some swimming etc and for lunch we saw mash on the menu and havent had it for ages so it was chicken and mash for a change , some hot spring rolls and a dahl with naan and lassi’s . cant help thinking for a nation of half veggies at times they havent got a clue on how to make a side veg appetising or even interesting ! still , it was all nice and clean .
service and cleanliness was a high standard . the place is immaculate with some of the cleanest toilets in goa , definitely top 3 !
you cross the creek on a wooden walkway to get onto the shore
had what felt like the whole beach to ourselves , beautiful .
a woman picked shellfish while the crows scavenged
“he man” crabs with 1 mega claw fought for holes under the bridge
men tended their fishing boats
took a walk along the beach , the sea was red hot right at the end of the season , the water shallow and the beach wide . its much warmer in april than nov/dec/jan . other places where nearby
this is along by ashvem
after here we had sunset drinks and sat in ‘sky bar’ in ashvem . we watched the kitesurfers and had cocktails . such great deep electronic music in this place , some of the best in goa . shame it isnt a club ! kite surfers fly up the creek and in the sea with a long shallow water entry . today was a blistering day .
as we neared anjuna / vagator we cut thru chapora who have a big street festival on , and their festival lights where blazing in the evening sky , so we stopped to hang out for a bit and fill up with fantastic street food like corn on the cob , gobi manchurian , various pakoras mmmm , and literally pennies for such simple fantastic food . the temple looked stunning lit in LED lights . the whole village was too .
chose a chilled night tonight and ended in the German bakery anjuna with late night chocolate cake and lemon cake . there are loads of people here hidden away at night in a quiet back road to nowhere , chatting , sharing travel tales , smoking and drinking .
