got tipped off by a local that a place ive passed a thousand times has great samosas and street food . so went into “geetesh hotel” [lol] in anjuna and filled my boots . superb fresh samosas as good as ‘cafe riva’ does in anjuna market . gotta get there in the morning or they all go .
as usual theres always someone begging , this time one of anjunas goats 😉
today went on a major mission to find a ‘secret beach’ . can’t find info on this beach or how to get there anywhere online . even asked a few knowledable local people , nothing . it took longer than expected to get there , bit of a ballache in all honesty , but once there it was our beach apart from the first 30 mins when several Indians where also there . after that it was just one small kid and us . bliss . the bay was hidden away behind a cliff face , across some bridges and down some steps . it looked like an indian family lived at the bottom of the steps , 2 women where asleep and they had 2 of those bamboo or woven round fishing rafts/boats they have in places like hampi [you can see them side on standing up in video] . i can see why there is little info and people dont talk about this place – everyone wants it to be their own secret beach . superb afternoon .

next it was part two of journey , went fora nose past the docks and ship repairers incl this strange ” m.v. royale flotel” boat that looked like nasa’s shuttle . it was refitted in 2013 but back in the docks so obviously problems ! it states its a “14-room all-suite, high-end luxury floating hotel. With a capacity for 60 passengers, the 60x13m vessel is fitted with a spa featuring Jacuzzi hot-tubs and claims a Five Star Hotel rating with the largest room size in India”. so there ! goa port has so many ship repairers and dirty rusty boats – stinks and is really industrial around that bit . skanky . then back thru panjim the capital passing the famous ” basilica bom jesus” church [currently being re roofed in april 2014 ] and towards ponda to “ATV ADVENTURES GOA” .
so after another long scenic journey down the side of the river i arrived at the ATV track which looked closed , with the recepton gatehouse empty , no quad bikes , water ditch dried out , signs invisible , and nobody around . totally gutted went all way for nothing ;-( but not be be outdone i drove in on my moped and I did several laps of the dirt track on my moped lol !!! WHAT A TOP LAUGH BOZZING AROUND 😉 you can find these guys on facebook called ATVAdventuresGoa .
only after several mins acting a goat and as i was about to leave from the alternative exit did I spy this ATV sticking out barely visible hidden behind some bushes along the lane . so found the guy and the bikes in a house all lined up . how many customers must arrive and leave cos they dont have a sign saying ‘go to rear of track’ on the main road – ONLY IN GOA HAHAHA ? i would have left except i did it on my moped like a loon . glad i stayed now 😉
eventually ended up doing it on the polaris 200’s ATV’s . small trail but it was a great laugh .600r for 10 mins plus a couple of practice laps . you could do the dirt track , or do the jungle trail . the jungle trail is small , it was basically round the back of the guys house in a loop as in the video , hardly jungle driving when 50% is thru a car park , but it was still a great laugh to drive the quad . TIP : ATV guys , make a proper jungle adventure track for ie 1 or 2 hours drive somewhere where we follow you thru forest and water splashes out into the wilderness . and put a sign on your gate saying ‘open go to read of track down lane’ .
left ponda , probs the worst goa traffic I’ve driven in apart from the CCB STRIP at new year . congested and lots of trucks everywhere . most of journey was national highway and helmet compulsory roads . wouldn’t do that again just for a random leisurely trip that’s for sure but its all part of the adventure . came home with a stunning sunset dropping across panjim bridge . wanted a tasty meal so headed for italian at “Ciao Bella” in chapora . this place is near impossible to find hidden away in a rural residential village . ive tried to find it on 3 previous visits to goa without joy . even if you ask locals where it is , and id been within 100m asking about it and left a few times , youre told it definitely wasnt anywhere there . tonight i was determined and we did found it at last !! boy was it worth it . suprisingly nice interior for goa , immaculate toilets [joint nicest with teso siolim] , and authentic italian food made by and run by italians . as good as you can hope for , think this is my new joint fav restaurant with “wok n roll” in sinquerim . it just tips my place italian in vagator cos it has better deserts and is more of a restaurant rather than eating in a garden . AMAZING . please dont tell the idiots about this place 😉 gnocchi bolognese , bruschetta , oh yeh its has some of the nicest deserts ever , and easily the best ive had on goa by a long long way . the chocolate brownie is lightly spiced and baked in a dish to perfection , served with ice cream THIS IS A BAAAD ASS MF !
after here it was the Shiva Valley Anjuna party tonight
but on arrival curlies was the place it was happening , really busy . heres some daytime pics so you can see what its like . music can be brutal psy trance tho , not for the faint hearted . and not for me either lol , easily 20bpm too fast .
partied till the AM’s after a superb adventurous day , lots of miles on the bike , and fantastic dinner . gotta love goa .
