went to the dam for 5 days . had a great laugh , its a clean fun city . its also a place that you get lost in all the time , every canal and street start to blend together quite easily … especially after visiting the bars ! theres a sex place or coffee house round most corners in the centre
and if it isnt sex or coffe shops – its cheese !
they have some really nice buildings , its so clean .
wandering thru the streets youd find plenty to see and do
we picked an incredible weekend to go on , hotttest of the year . so we went to a park one afternoon south west of the city , im pretty sure it was ‘sarphatipark’ , cos it was all too hot . there where loads of ‘birds’ there haha , lakes , ice cream men , and people sitting on the grass catching rays
the street market was nearby [albert cuypstraat] , got some great snacks and had a good look along the shops . mrs got some jewllery . it was not far away and just behind the heineken building . really cheap too , and fairly busy .
then at night everywhere was more sex shops , booze and coffee bars ! its very cosmopolitan , people socialising on the streets .
went into the centre each night to eat , drink and partayyyyy . had the usual unhealthy type of tourist city break diet of chinese , burgers , pizza , extra carbs and fat , mostly washed down with beer and cocktails lol ! and a half decent mexican too called los pilones .
one of the main reasons for going there was to do some solid partying , so “loveland festival” was on .
we got a tram there . what a line up . heres a couple of big dj’s … solomun and sander kleinenberg . dubfire banged it , we loved solomun and maceo plex .
the place was awesome , alongside a lake in ‘sloterpark’ – an absolutely enormous park in west amsterdam . there where numerous tents with dj’s on and you could walk to an island in the park along a bridge / walkway .
over the clubbers various remote bug things flew in the air , video cameras , confetti bombs …
day after next we went to ‘zandvoort beach’ . people say a beach in amsterdam ??? well yeh actually ! its about 15 miles away on the west coast . we got the bus there which was easy . its a huge beach , clean sand , goes on for miles . all the way along are these semi permanent bars and restaurants . find your location on google maps , input zandvoort beach , then click directions , and public transport , and it will bring up the timetables . easy !
stayed for the day doing some sunbathing and comsuming booze . got treated to a fantastic sunset . what a day !
a 1 hour flight from north west uk on an easy jet , a bus into our hotel called NL hotel on the south edge of the canals, simple efficient public transport networks around the city using trams buses and trains . everything very clean and quite compact and flat making things simple to reach on foot . definitely a great city break to take . id recommend reading this page and viewing its map if you want to quickly see where the most obvious things are for first timers in amsterdam …. http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Travel-g188590-c156882/Amsterdam:The-Netherlands:Where.To.Stay.In.Amsterdam.html .
